Bernedoodle Breed Overview

The Bernedoodle is a cross/hybrid between a Poodle and a Bernese Mountain Dog. They are eager to please and naturally friendly. In short, they are a great addition to any home. Very playful, they love spending time with their masters. The Poodle gene promotes the extra "smarts", making training less painful. Their laid-back demeanor stems from the Bernese side. A fact to note, Bernedoodles are often worked as "therapy dogs".

Size & Activity Level

There are 3 sizes to this dog.

1. Standard- 79-90 pounds
2. Mini- 25-50 pounds
3. Toy- 10-24 pounds

Craving attention can cause this dog anxiety if left alone for long periods. Moderate exercise is always necessary. Mini and Toy size will live fine in apartments. However, good long walks and fresh air are always necessary. In general, cuddling is of most importance to them. Early socializing with other animals and young kids will keep them well behaved.

Care & Grooming

Bernedoodles require moderate maintenance, as shedding is minimal. They are well known for their hypoallergenic coats. Wavy, curly hair adds to their adorable look. Additionally, take note that brushing is always necessary, and bathe when needed. Colors group in black, brown, and white to combine many combinations. Specifically, all crossbreeds can vary in appearance, and no two are exactly alike. Nonetheless, they are a healthy, solid mix breed, and highly sought after.
