Aussiedoodle Breed Overview

An Aussiedoodle, is a cross breed, or more commonly called a designer mix. Sometimes referred to as an Aussiepoo or AussiePoodle. They result from breeding an Australian Shepherd with a Poodle. Particularly, a Standard or Miniature Poodle are used in mating. When you meet an Aussiedoodle prepare yourself to feel overjoyed. They resemble a stuffed animal. The life expectancy of the Aussiedoodle is 10-14 years.

Size & Activity Level

Aussiedoodles range in size from 25-70 pounds, depending on their Poodle parent's size. They are an active breed and need to be occupied. Exercise is an absolute must. In fact, running, playing, swimming, and another vigorous activity is needed daily. With this in mind, these dogs can live comfortably in a condo, apartment, urban or rural family home. However, a secure yard will be necessary and should never be left unattended. Care & Grooming Poodles do not shed, while Australian Shepherds do. Hence, their pups are low shedding, and grooming is not too difficult. Coats can vary in color while being curly and soft to the touch. Some are wavier than others. But, either way, a weekly comb-out is necessary. The more you groom your dog, the more he will become accustomed to it, and hopefully enjoy the process. Most owners only bathe when stinky sets in. Finally, nail trimming and ear cleaning are monthly tasks. Also, keep in mind that a well-balanced diet will keep them in top health. Ask your vet or breeder for advice when necessary.
