Active, Compact, Confident
Pomeranians came from the Pomeranian region of Germany and Poland. The breed was made popular by many royals beginning in the 18th century. Queen Victoria and Queen Charlotte owned Pomeranians. Also, Michelangelo and Sir Isaac Newton were famous owners.
Small and compact, Pomeranians belong to the Toy Group. They are active, playful and friendly. Confident and aware of their environment, Pomeranians are highly intelligent and respond well to training. These cuties can be very successful in getting what they want from their owners. They make excellent guard dogs and will bark when they sense danger. The breed gets along well with other dogs and household pets, especially if socialized at a young age.

The life expectancy of a Pomeranian is 12-16 years.
Size & Activity Level
The Pomeranian is a small dog ranging from 5-7 pounds. When put on a good healthy diet, she will have few health problems. Small but energetic, Pomeranians need relatively little exercise. But short daily walks or allowing them run around an enclosed space is recommended. They may quickly become bored if they are not given enough to do. Apartment life is well-suited to keep a Pomeranian happy.
Care & Grooming
Pomeranians have a long double coat that requires brushing regularly. This will help reduce shedding. Breeders recommend trimming their coat every 1 to 2 months.
It is important for Pomeranians to receive good dental care. They are prone to tooth loss, so regular cleaning is necessary. Dry food is recommended to aid in keeping teeth and gums healthy.
