GREAT DANE
Friendly, Dependable, Courageous

Great Dane Breed Overview
The Great Dane is of unknown origin, but we know the breed has existed for thousands of years. The ‘Gentle Giant’, or simply ‘Dane’, is among the world’s tallest breeds.
They are affectionate, calm, loyal, and intelligent. And they seldom bark, making them great watchdogs. They also get along well with children, other dogs, and any household pets.

Life Expectancy
The life expectancy of this breed is 8-12 years.
Size & Activity Level
They are very large, elegant dogs, ranging from 120-150 pounds. They are part of the Working Group.
During the teenage period, Danes can be as energetic as they are large. Even the most well-mannered of this breed should not be left unsupervised with small children because of their size, strength and inherently playful nature.
Danes are truly house dogs, despite their size, and do not require an enormous amount of daily exercise. They do require ample space so apartment dwellers should never consider this breed.
Care & Grooming
Danes are heavy shedders and the need to be brushed with a rubber brush to help remove dead hairs. Also, a weekly brushing will keep shedding under control. Bathe a Great Dane as needed. And for baths and nail trimmings, some owners prefer to use the services of a professional groomer.
Moreover, they need a sizable soft place to lie down indoors. When this breed is young, proper nutrition and avoidance of excessive exercise are required.
