Breed Overview

The Cane Corso is a large breed, also known as the Italian Mastiff, or Italian Molosser. In fact, they are closely related to the Neopolitain Mastiff. They were bred to guard property and hunt big game. This working dog will do best with a job that channels his intelligence and energy. Uninterested in strangers, but they are loyal and affectionate with their family. Thriving on companionship they love being by your side.

Accordingly, they have a socially dominant personality. The Corsi’s smart and bossy nature will need a confident owner to keep him in check. Due to his size, by all means, he needs strong leadership skills with consistent training.  They have a strong prey drive and are very territorial. For this reason, a tall, secure fence is necessary.
