Overview
The Schnoodle is a mixed breed dog combining the Schnauzer with the Poodle. As Poodles and Schnauzers come in all sizes from the small toy to the large standard, so will Schnoodles. Most Schnoodles are on the smaller size with a Toy or Miniature Poodle as the sire and a Schnauzer dam. The goal is to get a designer mix with the intelligence of the Poodle and the sturdiness of the Schnauzer, but with all hybrids, appearance and temperament can vary.
This designer mix is very versatile. They are eager to please and will be happy as a lap dog and companion animal as well as be excelling in agility and performance sports. Schnoodles are loyal and affectionate. This fun-loving mix is always ready for playtime, making them a great addition to a family with children.
Life Expectancy
The Schnoodle has a life expectancy 12-15 years.
Size & Activity Level
Schnoodle size can vary anywhere from 6-75 pounds, so be sure to know the size of the parents. Most combine miniature-sized parents resulting in offspring weighing 10-20 pounds when mature. This busy mix is intelligent with a high activity level so be ready for playtime to be both physically and mentally challenging.
Care & Grooming
The Schnoodle is a low-shedding, low-dander doThe ig. Ideal coat is soft and wavy but may range from the wiry Schnauzer coat to the curly Poodle coat. Grooming needs will vary depending on the coat. Schnoodles with the characteristic Schnauzer beard will need food crumbs cleaned after meals. Tear staining is sometimes a problem to wash the face and pay attention to the under eye area daily.
