They come from Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, Africa, and even today they are still known as the African Lion Hound.

Life Expectancy
The life expectancy of a Rhodesian Ridgeback ranges from 10-14 years.
Size & Activity Level
Rhodesian Ridgebacks range from 65-90 pounds.
This breed will mature to a medium activity level. Therefore, good socialization will be necessary. Most notable is that sufficient exercise will help them adapt to any living arrangement. For this reason, these dogs should never be kept outside to live, preferring instead a comfortable sofa.
Care & Grooming
Ridgeback coats are short, shiny, and odor-free. In addition, they shed very little and only require an occasional bath to keep them clean and smelling fresh.
