The Bernese Mountain Dog’s exact origin is unknown. Many believe they came from the Swiss Mountains as farm dogs. Calm and sturdy these dogs made great working companions for farmers. This breed is striking in appearance. A hardy, solid dog who does very well in cold weather is part of the Working Group. With a long list of great qualities, the Bernese Mountain Dog is a wonderful dog for any family. They are excellent with children and loyal to their household. Highly intelligent, sweet, and gentle, these dogs thrive on human company.

Care & Grooming


The Bernese Mountain Dog has a thick water-resistant coat which keeps him warm in cold temperatures. They require regular grooming to avoid excess shedding. They are tri-colored, black with tan markings and white flashings.
