Choosing a dog when living in the city can be difficult, especially when the dwelling is an apartment. Individuals may have their heart set on a certain breed, but before subjecting a Great Dane or Greyhound to a life of cramped living, remember that there are dozens of smaller breeds that can live happily and comfortably in an apartment.

  1. Bichon Frise

They don’t shed very much and are typically happy and friendly dogs that get along with adults, kids and other canines. However, they require regular grooming and can present a few challenges when it comes to house training.

  1. Boston Terriers

Known as “American gentlemen,” they don’t shed or drool very much, and get along with adults and kids. They’re energetic and daily walks are needed to keep them calm and work off their energy. They’re cheerful, friendly and very smart, which can lead to some training difficulties.

  1. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Developed to be a companion breed, they’re extremely easy going which makes them great for individuals getting their first dog. They’re people pleasers, easy to train and fully enjoy curling up in the lap of their humans.

  1. Chihuahuas

They don’t take up much room and prefer to stay near their human companions. They don’t require a lot of exercise and are content to play inside with their special people. They can be difficult to housebreak and socialization, while they’re young, is critical to prevent them from becoming suspicious of people.

  1. Corgis

A favorite of Queen Elizabeth, Pembroke Welsh corgis are friendly, as are Cardigan Welsh corgis. However, they do shed quite a bit and are quite vocal. They’ll need a significant amount of exercise as they’re quite energetic.

  1. Poodles

They’re highly intelligent, easy to train, and they shed very little. They do need a significant amount of exercise, are curious, and many even enjoy dog paddling around in shallow water. The breed has many size incarnations.

  1. Yorkshire Terrier

A tiny little canine, they fancy themselves guard dogs and will be quick to alert you to every sound and knock on the door. They require frequent grooming, but shed very little. They’re affectionate and love having a close relationship with their humans.

Connecting Breeders & Buyers

We are in love with dogs!  Our team has been very involved in many aspects of the pet industry. For years, we also were breeders, struggling to find a good venue with reasonable rates to advertise in.  Fetchem Puppies to the rescue! We give Breeders every advantage to “show off their puppies.”
