Loyal, Relaxed, Worker

Breed Overview

The Australian Shepherd, or commonly called  “Aussie”, in fact, does not come from Australia. Its exact origin is unknown. History tells us Basque farmers, (Northern Spain) brought the breed’s ancestors with them when they emigrated to Australia. This cherished dog that we love was introduced to the United States during the California gold rush.

The Aussies strongest traits include loyal companionship, matched with incredible stamina. Aussies are very energetic and thrive on being busy. Moreover, their herding instincts, along with their high amount of energy keep them plenty busy.

For the most part, Aussies are easy to train and quick learners. Of course human companionship is crucial to this breed. Furthermore, they will thrive in an active family who especially love the outdoors. Other pets and kids are a welcome addition.
